Fall in Arizona is beautiful - hiking in the desert is prime (in the late season), and the leaves change in various places throughout the state. Flagstaff is magical, but it can be very busy. Here’s some other options that are stunning, even in the later weeks of fall. Chiricahua wilderness - this is located near Portal, AZ. Which is 4-4.5 hours from Phoenix. The areas south of Tucson is full of amazing mountains and tons of hiking trails. I highly recommend making a trip! West fork oak creek: S
