The Poplar Bluff Police Department would like to warn retailers and cashiers about the scam commonly referred to as "quick-change" scam. The scam is a theft in which an individual will pay for a low-priced item, such as a pack of gum or a soft drink, with a large bill, such as a $100 bill. While the cashier is counting the customer's change, the individual will then request to pay with a smaller bill, asking for the large bill back.
